They’re a very intense team, but today in the duels we were really aggressive. “We were spot on.” Onana was one of the players on target in B6, arrowing in his first goal of the season to make it 2-0 in the first half. “When you hit it that sweet, you know it’s going in,” he reflected. “It reminded me of my goal against Young Boys last season in the Champions League, it was pretty similar.” The 24-year-old now heads off to link up with Belgium for a pair of crucial FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Onana and his countrymen take on Kazakhstan and Liechtenstein as they bid to secure top spot in Group J. He said: “Coming off this, 4-0 against Bournemouth at home and trying to qualify with Belgium for the World Cup, it’s an amazing feeling. “I’m really proud of that and we’ll need to refocus when we get back to the Premier League.”
