Siya inspires Bafana Bafana

Springbok captain Siya Kolisi addressed Bafana Bafana in Durban on Thursday ahead of their friendly against Panama on Friday night. Wearing the team’s new kit, Kolisi reportedly provided words of encouragement, urging the players to always stand tall and reminding them that donning the national colours is a privilege and a responsibility. Kolisi shared several photos on Instagram with the caption “Amaqhawe ethu [Our heroes].” Bafana Bafana will play Mexico in the opening match of the 2026 Fifa World Cup on 11 June at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. Schoemies strengthens struggling Edinburgh

Pierre Schoeman will start for Edinburgh against the Stormers in Cape Town on Saturday, with another South African loosehead prop on the bench. The Scotland international returns from Six Nations duty, while Springbok Boan Venter provides cover among the replacements. Edinburgh are coming off a heavy 54-17 defeat to the Lions at Ellis Park, a result that dropped them to 13th on the Vodacom URC log.
